Dustin Hoffman playing the role of Kim Peek. Since then I have researched Kim Peek and have written extensively on his character and his extraordinary abilities. Writing and researching about him I sort of built a mental bond with him and it is with heavy heart that I am to perform my duty and write about his death.
His father clearing the circumstances of Kim Peek’s death said that his son was fighting with a severe respiratory tract infection. Meanwhile on Saturday Kim went under a massive cardiac arrest coupled with breathing difficulties, it proved fatal.
Kim was 58. After the huge success of the film Rain Man, Kim Peek extensively travelled and lectured. NASA scanned his brain to spot the difference between his brain and normal human brain and to try to bring about those changes artificially.
To a doctor’s eye Kim Peek was born with certain disabilities, however he proved himself to be more able than ordinary people. From the early childhood Kim was endowed with the ability to memorize the books from end to end and this is just the start of many feats he is able to perform. With the persons like Kim Peek, it is often thought that increased mental capability comes at a cost of diminished social skills. However that was not the case with Kim Peek, he went on to develop some social skills also.
Kim had a condition in which his left and right part of brain were not connected. Scientist proposed many theories but nothing can be said with 100% certainty as to why he went on to develop such extra ordinary abilities.
