Did the GroundHog See His Shadow 2010 | Punxsutawney Phil

Today is Groundhog Day 2010! Groundhog Day is a holiday celebrated on February 2. It is held in the United States and Canada. According to folklore, if a groundhog emerging from its burrow on this day fails to see its shadow, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end.

However, if on the other hand, the groundhog sees its shadow, the groundhog will supposedly retreat into its burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks

Are you asking if Groundhog saw his shadow in today’s Groundhog Day 2010? Unfortunately, Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous groundhog DID SEE his shadow! That means six more weeks of winter!

German tradition says that if a hibernating animal, say a Groundhog, sees its shadow on February 2nd, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last for six more weeks. If no shadow is seen, then, according to the legend, spring will come early.

In contrast to Punxsutawney Phil seeing his shadow in Pennsylvania, his counterpart Buckeye Chuck did not see his shadow today, meaning spring is on the way sooner rather than later, according to tradition. New York Mayor Bloomberg said that Staten Island Chuck did not see his shadow either, also predicting a short winter.

So whos is more correct in predicting the weather is it Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil who did saw his shadow or his counterpart Buckeye Chuck who did not saw his shadow?

Here is a youtube video signaling the Groundhog Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania who did see his shadow.
