Shani Davis has won a gold medal for the USA in the Men's 1000 meter speed race.
Davis is the only man in history to win the Olympic 1,000-meter race twice.
Mo Tae-bum of South Korea finished second, 18-hundredths of a second behind Davis’ winning time of 1:08.94. Chad Hedrick of the U.S. won the bronze in 1:09.32.
Davis is the world record holder and was the defending Olympic champion. This season, Davis had competed in the 1000 meter four times and hadn't loss once, so he was the closest thing to a sure bet the US Speedskating team had.
Davis will go for another gold medal on Saturday when he competes in the 1,500, -- speedskating's main event.
