Panachikadu Saraswati Temple near Kottayam in Kerala

Panachikadu Saraswati Temple is popularly known as Dakshina Mookambika Temple. This is one of the rare temples that is dedicated exclusively to Goddess Saraswati. The idol of Goddess Saraswati is located in the middle of a pond and it is covered by climbing plants. Puja and rituals are performed on another idol that is placed opposite to the original idol. The original idol of the Goddess Saraswati here is always covered by a climbing plant and the feet of the idol is constantly washed by small flow of water.

Panachikadu Saraswati Temple attracts thousands of people during Vidyarambham – young children are initiated into the world of letters on the day here. Vidayarmbham is observed on the Vijayadasami day.
