Raj Patel

Raj Patel is an American academic correspondent, writer and activist, he was born in London. Raj Patel’s mother was a Kenyan woman while his father belongs to Fiji;  Raj Patel took his Master Degree from London School of Economics. Raj Patel is an excellent author with fabulous writing skills, from Cornell University; he got his PhD in “Development Sociology” in 2002.

Raj Patel worked in many countries including United States of America, South Africa and Zimbabwe and attracted people with his superb writing guts and activist services. Raj Patel became most popular writer after his book “Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System.” He wrote this book; recently Raj Patel has come up with his latest book “The Value of Nothing.”

This book has been doing well in the market, during last month February 2010; it was there in the list of “Best-Seller” of “The New York Times.” From Oxford, Raj Patel took his bachelor degree in Economics, Philosophy and Politics. Raj Patel has also been working as visiting academic at a private research institute “Yale University” and at the University of California, Berkeley. He also worked for United Nations, World Trade Organization and World Bank.

Raj Patel came to deliver defining address at the graduation ceremony of the University of Abahlali baseMjondolo which is a shack-occupants’ movement in Republic of South Africa. Patel was asked to give evidence about the international food catastrophe in front of the House Financial Service Committee in United States of America. Last year in 2009, Raj Patel tied a campaign “Value the Meal” of Corporate Accountability International.
