Raj Babbar | Dimple Yadav | Firozabad

He joined Samajwadi Party and became Member of Parliament of India three times from his native constituency of Agra.

Due to open criticism of Amar Singh, Raj Babbar was suspended from the party. Raj Babbar emphasized socialism as propagated by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, the basis of formation of Samajwadi Party, however Amar Singh has connections with industrialists and various celebrities in Hindi cinema, which brings influence and money-power essential for survival in India’s political system.

On 5 October, 2008 he joined the Congress Party.

Firozabad Election Results:

Congress candidate Raj Babbar was leading over his nearest Samajwadi Party rival Dimple Yadav by over 2000 votes in Firozabad Lok Sabha seat while the ruling BSP was ahead in 10 of the 11 assembly seats.

At the end of two rounds of counting, actor-turned- politician Babbar consolidated his lead over SP supremo Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law.

The ruling BSP candidates were leading in Powayan, Isauli, Hainsar Bazar, Padrauna, Kolasala, Rari, Etawah, Bharthana, Lalitpur and Jhansi, election department sources said.

In Lucknow (west) seat, considered a stronghold of BJP, Bukkal Nawab of SP and Shyam Kishore Shukla of Congress were neck and neck. BJP nominee Amit Puri was at third place at the end of three rounds of counting.
