Seantrel Henderson Announcement: Top Recruit Goes To USC

Seantrel Henderson’s announcement made at 5:30 PM EST made Lane Kiffin, new coach of USC, happy. He selected USC over Ohio State.

Seantrel Henderson’s announcement gives USC the top rated offensive lineman in the country. Henderson, from Minnesota, is 6′8, 340 pounds of offensive lineman. He was rated as the consensus top offensive linemen in the country and #1 on Scout.com’s top 300 and #2 in the Rivals 100.

Lane Kiffin is USC’s new coach, taking over for Pete Carroll, who defected to the NFL and the Seattle Seahawks. Kiffin had to had a smile on his face after Seantrel Henderson’s announcement.

Wednesday was National Signing Day. The first Wednesday of February is always slotted as the first day that high school recruits can sign official offer letters for universities. Quite a few recruits chose to switch allegiances today.

Seantrel Henderson’s announcement was made on the CBS College Sports Network. He made it by wearing a white USC jersey and a cardinal Trojans cap. By Tuesday, he had essentially narrowed his choices to USC, Ohio State and Miami, in that order. Florida, Minnesota and Notre Dame had been in the running.

Reportedly, the defection of Pete Carroll soured the relationship between the Henderson family and USC. However, Lane Kiffin managed to patch it up, and thus, USC has the top recruit in the country which, being an offensive lineman, is a rarity.
