India’s first AC Double Decker train to start plying

India’s first air conditioned double decker train was rolled out by the Rail Coach Factory (RCF). It will ply between Howrah and Dhanbad in the Eastern section of Railways.
The double decker rake comprises of ten coaches, including two power cars, according to RCF General Manager Pardeep Kumar.
Talking to mediapersons here, the GM claimed that these futuristic high speed stainless steel coaches were comparable with the best international trains.
He said these double decker coaches had been introduced to cater to the heavy rush of commuters in the high density corridors offering AC travel at a lower cost.
The GM said the Railway Board would decide about the AC fare of the double decker train. He said the first double decker train would start running on Howrah-Dhanbad section of eastern railways after clearance from the Commissioner, Railway Safety.
He said new design coaches were capable of running at a speed of 160 kmph and had been tested at a speed of 180 kmph. Agencies
