Julie Andrews to get lifetime achievement Grammy

julie.andrews.stepmotherHollywood actress Julie Andrews, singer Dolly Parton and rock band Ramones are reportedly set to receive lifetime achievement Grammys in February for their contribution to music.
Said Neil Portnow, president of the Recording Academy which is handing out the awards: "It is a great honour to recognise and celebrate such a distinguished and dynamic group of honorees."

"Their legendary work has left a lasting impression and will continue to influence generations to come," contactmusic.com quoted Portnow as saying.

Dolly, famed for her voluptuous figure, rose to fame in the 1950s, and has had over 41 different country albums enter the top 10 in the US charts and has penned worldwide hits such as "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You".

Other artists to be recognised with Lifetime Achievement Awards will be the Juilliard String Quartet, jazz drummer Roy Haynes, folk group the Kingston Trio and gospel singer George Beverly Shea.

Although the Lifetime Achievement trophies will be given out at a separate ceremony, a formal acknowledgment will be made during the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles the following day.
